HISTORY OF MUSCANTIQUA
Muscantiqua was founded in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and is dedicated to the promotion of Early Music, with a particular focus on the repertoire of the 16th to the 18th centuries.Its mission is to bring this valuable heritage closer to a wider audience while providing a space for advanced training for musicians interested in historically informed performance.

Over the years, Muscantiqua has established a strong presence in the Canary Islands through specialised courses, workshops, and concerts.These activities promote excellence and historically informed performance, while contributing to the development of Early Music on the island. They also enrich the cultural life of the community, establishing the association as a leading reference in this field.

With this fourth edition, the aim is to promote the training of musicians in historically informed performance, bringing together students and professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge of Renaissance and Baroque performance practices.

The course promotes a historically informed approach to Early Music, integrating historical and musicological criteria into performance practice. It fosters critical reflection and the exchange of knowledge in order to enrich the interpretation of repertoire from the 16th to the 18th centuries
The practice of chamber music is one of the core elements of the course. Through work in instrumental, vocal, or mixed ensembles, participants explore the repertoire of Early Music from a collaborative perspective, deepening their interpretative and stylistic understanding
The course is complemented by a programme of concerts and public activities, conceived as a natural extension of the pedagogical work. These initiatives bring Renaissance and Baroque music closer to the cultural life of Las Palmas.

Profesorado – Muscantiqua
The fourth International Early Music Course in Las Palmas brings together a faculty of performers specialised in historically informed performance, with a distinguished artistic and pedagogical background.The faculty members are active as soloists, chamber musicians, and collaborators with some of Europe’s leading Early Music orchestras and ensembles. They regularly perform at international festivals and concert venues.Through their artistic and teaching experience, they guide participants in a learning process that combines historical rigour, stylistic reflection, and musical practice.
